Russell BrownRussell Brown was elected Lawrence Township Trustee on September 21, 2009, to complete the remainder of a term following a vacancy in office. Prior to beginning service as the Township Trustee, Russell was active in our community in a variety of ways.

Russell first public service role included serving as a member of the Governor’s Office staff under the late Frank O’Bannon. Russell also served as the Director of Policy of the Department of Workforce Development. In 2005, Russell spent time working as lobbyist of Indiana’s General Assembly for the trade organization for Indiana’s paid circulation newspapers. For nearly two years, Russell served as the vice chair person of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the city of Lawrence.

Russell has been a practicing attorney in Indianapolis since May 2007, concentrating his practice areas in municipal and business services, land use/zoning/real estate transactions and litigation matters. He is a registered Civil Mediator in the State of Indiana. He is a December 2006 cum laude graduate of Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis where he served as an Associate Editor of the Indiana Law Review and participated in pro-bono work with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic. Russell earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas in 1999.

Russell is a member Southeastern Church of Christ in Indianapolis where he coordinates a twice monthly intake session for the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic. Russell has served as a member of the Advisory Board and Board of Directors for the Lawrence Community Development Corporation.

Russell and his wife Emily, along with their toddler son, live in the Sunnybrooke subdivision in the City of Lawrence
